Feb. 4 Commissioners’ Agenda Highlights

Commissioners to approve law enforcement agreement with BIA, review audit findings

Published: Wednesday, February 3, 2010 10:52 AM MST
The Glacier County Commissioners are allowing two hours on Thursday, Feb. 4, for a conference call with the auditors who performed the audit of Glacier County’s FY 2009 operations.

Officially called an “audit exit conference,” the call is scheduled for 10 a.m. to noon and will give the commissioners the opportunity to review the 22 deficiencies cited in the draft document prepared by the auditors. The conference call will be taken in the Commissioner Chambers in the Glacier County Courthouse. The conference is open to the public.

The auditing firm of Olness & Associates, P.C. completed the audit last month and presented their draft comments to county officials in mid-January.

Twenty or more deficiencies have been cited by the auditors in their draft and final audit reports during the past three fiscal years. The deficiencies have related to many aspects of Glacier County’s operation, including: the budget, commissioner meeting minutes, not holding required public hearings, record management, deficit spending, and lack of cash verification.

Thursday at 3:30 p.m. the county commissioners are scheduled to approve a law enforcement contract with the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Interested county residents are encouraged to attend.
