Board approves two-year contract with teachers, enrollment up by 49

The 2010-11 school year is off to a great start. The board of trustees held a special meeting to approve the last of three negotiated agreements with staff. Representatives of the Cut Bank Education Association attended the special meeting on Aug. 24 and concurred with the board members that the negotiation and mediation process went smoothly.

Orange Blossom Scramble draws 18 teams of enthusiastic golfers

Eighteen teams competed in the Dick More Memorial Orange Blossom Scramble last Saturday. The tournament is held each year at the end of the season.

Cut Bank Time Trials set for Friday


Cut Bank’s cross-country team will open the 2010 season this Friday, Sept. 3 with the annual Cut Bank Time Trials at the Cut Bank Golf and Country Club Course. The meet is a non-scoring affair with many local teams participating. All four MHSA classes (AA, A, B, C) will be racing Friday with an estimated 80 to 100 plus runners in each of the high school races. The time schedule for the time trials is as follows,

Lady Wolves win some, lose some at season opener in Choteau


The 2010 season for the Cut Bank High volleyball squad opened at the Choteau Invitational Tournament which featured 15 schools including several perennial powerhouses. The two-day tournament last Friday and Saturday was won by Choteau followed, in places two through six, by Three Forks, Shelby, Manhattan Christian, Missoula Loyola and Fairfield.

Cut Bank gridders open season against Plains Friday night


The Cut Bank High School gridiron season begins this Friday evening with a 7 p.m. game at the Cut Bank Town Field. This season’s lidlifter will be a rematch of last year’s opener as the Wolves seek revenge for a 33-19 loss to Plains-Hot Springs that opened the 2009 season. The Plains-Hot Springs squad posted a 7-2 record last season and lost in the opening round of the playoffs to Missoula Loyola. The Wolves went 4-4 and barely missed the playoffs.
