Donations needed for Toys for Tots program


When the Women of Today disbanded earlier this year, it looked like a lot of the good things they had done within the community, would disappear with them–like the holiday bazaar and Toys for Tots. But such was not the case.

NRMC still providing convenience of quality prenatal care in Cut Bank


When Glacier Community Health Center’s (GCHC) board of directors voted in late August to suspend offering prenatal and obstetrics services as of Oct. 1, Samantha DeZort was approximately 12 weeks away from delivering her second child. Thanks to the quick action of the Northern Rockies Medical Center administration and board, DeZort has not missed a single OB appointment with her caregiver and is on schedule to deliver her baby boy next week.

NRMC seeks funding from taxpayers, request will be on ballot in June 2010


The Glacier County Commissioners held three public hearings last week to gauge public opinion on Northern Rockies Medical Center’s request for a “$300,000 increase in the hospital agency fund.” NRMC board members asked the commissioners to put their request on the June Primary Election ballot in 2010. The commissioners approved that request by a 2-0 vote on Thursday, Nov. 12.

A rivalry that started in 1897 resumes this week with the annual Grizzly/Bobcat football game. The first game was played in Missoula and the Grizzly gridders won 18-6. The Grizzlies have won more often than the Bobcats, including 20 of the last 23, but the rivalry lives on.

Schwindt selected as All-State spiker


Cut Bank senior volleyball player Chelsey Schwindt was recently honored as an all-conference and all-state player. Schwindt is one of the six seniors on the seven player District 1-B first team all-conference team.

Annual Elks Hoop Shoot contest slated for Nov. 30


The local Elks Hoop Shoot Competition will be held on Monday, Nov. 30, in the Cut Bank High School Willie DeGroot Gymnasium. Registration will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the competition beginning at 7 p.m. This is open to boys and girls whose ages are 8-13 before April 1, 2010.

Eighth grade hoopsters open with two victories


The Cut Bank Middle School boys eighth grade basketball season got underway last week with victories over Browning B and new league foe Choteau.
