County Commissioners hold meeting in Browning, approve CTEP funding for pathway to new high school

“I don’t know what I was thinking,” said Glacier County Commission Chair Michael DesRosier Friday, Feb. 26, from the conference room at Browning’s City Hall. The Commission had been at a Montana Association of Counties meeting Tuesday, preventing them from meeting on the accustomed day, so the meeting was postponed until Friday. But City Hall resembled most of the rest of Browning during basketball tournaments, being virtually empty.

Runnin’ Indians head for Butte and State Class A Tournament!

By John McGill
Wednesday, March 3, 2010 10:25 AM MST
They may have only played twice, but both the Havre contest and the championship for the Central A basketball title were extremely close and hard-fought games for Browning. A big third quarter put the Indians out in front of Havre on Friday, but the Blue Ponies stormed back and tied things up at 66-all. It took two overtime periods for the Indians to win by four, 84-80. Saturday’s championship game pitted Browning against Butte Central, which like Browning had an 8-2 record. Fouls kept three Browning players out of the first half, and poor shooting in the second period kept the Indians from claiming the lead for keeps. Browning took the second place crown for 2010 at 64-62.

Lady Indians finish in fourth place at Central A Divisional Tournament

Entering the tournament Thursday, Feb. 25, against a team with just a little better record, the Lady Indians nevertheless had trouble scoring points against Belgrade and went down in the first round, 54-38. The loss put them in the loser-out bracket on Saturday morning, and the Lady Indians made the most of the opportunity and handed Fergus County a 59-38 thrashing that kept Browning in the contest. Finally, it was Browning versus Havre for third place Saturday evening, and while the Lady Indians gave it a good try, fouls proved their undoing as they settled for fourth place in a tight, 46-40 game.
