Blackfeet Constitution reform continues at BCC convention

The Student Commons at Blackfeet Community College was packed Thursday, Jan. 28, with more than a hundred interested tribal members, all working to revise and amend the Blackfeet Constitution. The effort is in midstream at this point, with some days left to run on the original Jan. 26 to Feb. 4 schedule, and more time to be added at the end, if needed.

Williams honored for Montana Youth Challenge graduation


The courtroom at the Blackfeet Tribal Court was packed with youthful offenders Friday, Jan. 29, along with a recent graduate of the Montana Youth Challenge and his family, who was being honored for his accomplishments.

Feb. 4 Commissioners’ Agenda Highlights


The Glacier County Commissioners are allowing two hours on Thursday, Feb. 4, for a conference call with the auditors who performed the audit of Glacier County’s FY 2009 operations.

Budget requests and sale of Blondie’s discussed at Jan. 26 County Commission meeting


Two requests for budget appropriations and allocations were discussed at the Jan. 26 meeting of the Glacier County Commissioners, which was held in Browning.

Runnin’ Indians wax Fairfield and Shelby

The Browning Runnin’ Indians have added two more wins to their record in the final weeks of the regular season. Starting with a road game against Fairfield Thursday, Jan. 28, they jumped out to a first-half lead and never looked back, 69-53. Then on Saturday, Jan. 30, Browning avenged an early season loss to Shelby in a home game that saw them overwhelm the opposition in every period, save one, to take it home, 55-41.

Lady Indians split week’s tilts


Browning’s Lady Indians stalled out on a three-period lead against Fairfield Thursday, Jan. 28, and dropped the first of two games last week, 50-42. But they came back on a road game against Shelby Saturday, gaining a lead in the first half and expanding that lead to the 67-50 finale.

Frosh Lady Indians marching on


The Browning Lady Indians Freshman Basketball put together a complete game from start to finish Jan. 15, as they beat the Havre Blue Ponies, 40-32. The young ladies looked very sharp in passing the ball and setting screens, making layups and hitting the outside jump shot.

Ice Fishing Derby at Duck Lake Feb. 13-14


The annual derby sponsored by the Babb/St. Mary Volunteer Fire Department will be held on Feb. 13-14 at Duck Lake. The fire department members are looking forward to sharing a day of fun, fishing, prize drawings, 50/50 ticket drawings, food available at the concessions stand and swapping stories with our neighbors.
