Residents invited to learn more about roles and responsibilities of the Town of Valier’s leaders

Community members interested in the roles and responsibilities of local government officials won’t want to miss the one-hour training session scheduled for 6-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 7, at the Valier Civic Center. Dan Clark, Director of the Montana State University Local Government Center (MLGC) in Bozeman, is encouraging local residents to attend the session, which is designed to help “people understand what local government does and how it operates.”

Gabbard appointed to fill Kovatch’s vacancy, two more appointees to be confirmed at Sept. 7 meeting


Confused about who is serving on the Valier Town Council? You’re not the only one. Hayli Thompson, editor of The Valierian, is the first to admit she was confused at the chain of events that led to the appointment of Shannon Gabbard to the Valier Town Council at the Aug. 25 meeting. “From some of the comments and concerns raised at the meeting, I was not sure Shannon was officially appointed,” said Thompson, whose coverage of the meeting came under fire by Mayor McKenzie Graye and some Valier residents.

Dupuyer starts school year with new students and new teacher

Lady Panthers fall to CJI in volleyball season opener

The Valier Panther volleyball team kicked off their season with a home match against CJI on Friday, Aug. 27. The CJI Hawks pulled off the win in four sets, but the Lady Panthers proved to be a hard working team, and didn’t give up.

Football season just around the corner


The Valier Panther football team will kick off their season with a road game against Fromberg/Roy on Saturday, Sept. 4. The six man team consists of 21 boys; six seniors, four juniors, six sophomores and five freshmen.
